Dr. Katz regularly uses Applied Kinesiology with his patients. This is a technique that evaluates structural, chemical and mental aspects of health using manual muscle testing combined with other standard methods of diagnosis. This non-invasive system of evaluating body function is unique in the healing arts, and has become a dynamic movement in health care in its relatively short existence.

The basic principle of muscle testing is that when there is some stress or abnormal nervous system input to a muscle, it “weakens”. During a muscle test, a practitioner applies a force to one muscle or group of muscles, with a particular intent in mind. The muscle is then labelled “weak” or “strong” based on its ability to resist this force. Muscle testing is used to determine the state of organs and organ systems, to evaluate nutritional status and the need for supplementation, to detect imbalances in body systems, to discover the presence of mental or emotional stress, and to identify chemical sensitivities and allergies.

Dr. Katz studied Applied Kinesiology directly with its founder, Dr. George Goodheart, and many others, for over 30 years. Dr. Goodheart was a chiropractor who, back in the 1970s, made observations in his practice about muscle function and health, and ultimately developed the practice of Applied Kinesiology, which is now used by practitioners worldwide,
